Blanket Statement

With the Critter Knitter Knitathon and the Mason-Dixon Afghanalong winding down, I'd started to look elsewhere for a charity project when I came across Louise's site. She's collecting 8 inch squares to make into afghans for an organization in Halifax. The afghans will be distributed to people in need. For more information check out her July 26th post. Here's my first square.

With some help from Charlotte, I'm almost a third of the way through Brittany. All of those cotton stitches have started making my hands ache, so I'm taking breaks to work on shop samples. I finished one of the Reverse Bloom Washcloths from Weekend Knitting. I actually found the cotton chenille nice to use, but this is not the project to knit in social settings. It's very easy to lose your place in the pattern if you aren't paying attention.
The other shop sample is this

a moss stitch scarf made of Colineete Shimmer 5. One skein makes a scarf that is 4" by 40".
And here's the latest pregnant picture.

Only 23 more weeks to go.

Last of the Critter Knitter Knitathon

Here's the last four of my blankets for the knitathon.

They'll be mailed out tomorrow, so Liz should get them by the middle of next week.

Wednesday's yarn swap was a big success. Here's what I brought home.

DVC01648.JPG

1. Baby Cashmerino to be used in the hooded stripe top for the new baby- I'll pick out the second color once we know the sex of the baby.

2. Merino Chunky to go toward Hug

DVC01649.JPG

3. Cashmerino Aran to either go into the Circular Yoked Sweater or the Striped Sweater from the Baby Knits Book

DVC01651.JPG

4. Cotton Glace for the cover tank of the Vintage Knits book- I'll pick up some pink for the trim.

5. All Seasons Cotton which will probably go toward a Charlotte or baby sweater.

I traded some Mission Falls wool and cotton, sock yarn, Peruvian Silk Alpaca, Lanna Grossa Viale Print, Estivo, and some novelty yarn.

House News

We found a house.

It has four bedrooms, a big backyard, and plenty of space for us to grow. Finding a place was not easy; it seems a lot of people decided to make offers the weekend before we arrived. Between the third and the seventh, 5 of the houses we were considering went off the market.
Once we returned, Charlotte and I spent Wednesday at Knit Happens. Between marking the sale yarn and pricing the new yarn, I couldn't resist buying a few items. We've been out of the Code Pink Squiggle for months, so I made sure to grab a ball as soon as it came in this time. Here is the start of a scarf for Charlotte using the Squiggle and some Fuschi Pompon which also came in with the new stuff.

I also picked up some Classic Elite Flash for Charlotte projects. This yarn works as a substitute for Rowan Handknit DK Cotton, so I'll be using it for the Wait for Me Sweater and Jumping Dress from Miss Bea's Playtime. I'm also using it to make the Brittany Jumper from Minnowknits, Too. This dress is the most summery out of the three, so I started on it yesterday and have finished about half of the picot edging.

Don't forget there's a sale at the store this weekend. I'll be there Saturday, so if you pop by be sure to say hello.

I hope everyone celebrating the 4th enjoyed it. Charlotte had fun eating cookies with blue sprinkles.

Christina's Attic will be on vacation for the week while we look for a house. Here are some pictures of Charlotte's poncho to check out until we get back.

Goodbye Fiona and Critter Knitting

Fiona is being put to rest. The bag needs a lining if I'm going to use it- which I don't feel like sewing- and I would rather use the yarn for something other than a purse for Charlotte. I bought some more Mission Falls in Sea to go with the Skye yarn that I had for Fiona in order to make the Vera Tank.
So goodbye Fiona,

and hello Vera.

I've also been busy Critter Knitting. Here are blankets four through six.
